38th SADC Summit in Windhoek

Namibia will assume the role of Chair of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) in August 2018, taking over from the Republic of South Africa. The country will host the 38th Ordinary SADC Summit of Heads of State and Government from 09th – 18th August 2018 in Windhoek. The summit will take place under the theme: “Promoting Infrastructure Development and Youth Empowerment for Sustainable Development”.

The summit, which will take place on 17 – 18 August, will be preceded by the Senior Officials’ Meeting on 09 – 11 August, Ministerial Meeting on 13 - 14 August and the SADC Senior Officials, Ministerial and Summit Troika on 16 August. All the meetings will take place at the Safari Court Hotel and Conference Centre in Windhoek, Namibia.

All members of the Media who wish to cover the SADC Summit, preceding meetings and visit other areas accessible to media practitioners are required to be accredited through the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation - Protocol and Consular Affairs Department, with copies to the Ministry of Information and Communications and Technology by 10 August 2018

Members of the media meetings are invited to apply for accreditation by filling out the following forms:

NB: All foreign media practitioners who wish to cover the SADC Summit are exempted from paying the processing of a temporary work permit that costs N$390 per person+ N$80 handling fee.
