At the onset, I would like to thank the Ministry of Defence that has been a lead Ministry in the development of the Namibia National Action Plan on Women, Peace, and Security. Minister Ya Ndakolo and your team; Well Done! In the same vein, I thank the Ministries of Safety and Security and Gender Equality and Child Welfare for their unreserved support to the development and finalization of the Plan.
Dobroye utra! Good morning! Your Excellency, On behalf of the Namibian Delegation, it is a great pleasure for me to welcome you and your delegation back to Namibia and to Windhoek in particular. This is truly a testimony of the strong bond of friendship that exists between our two countries. Let me also take this opportunity to express our thanks and appreciation to you Co-Chair, for having brought with you a substantive and diverse business delegation.
I warmly welcome you to Namibia, my brother, Your Excellency, Mamadi Toure, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Guineans Abroad and Co-Chairperson of this Inaugural Session of the Namibia-Guinea Joint Commission of Cooperation (JCC). I equally welcome our colleagues, and other members of your delegation. I trust that you will have a pleasant and memorable stay in Namibia.
Having said that, it is indeed a privilege for me to motivate the budget vote of the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation. At this junction, I on behalf of the Deputy Minister, the Special Advisor, Executive Director, Ambassadors and High Commissioners and my own behalf wish to extend our appreciation to H.E. Dr Hage G. Geingob for continuing entrusting us with the responsibility of promoting and protecting Namibia’s national interest in the world.
I am pleased that amidst your busy schedules, you have prioritized this meeting and have come to join us in discussing the theme, “Women, Peace and Security: Towards Full Participation” with the sub-theme, “Mainstreaming the WPS Agenda in Regional Economic Communities (RECs).” I must also express my profound gratitude and appreciation for an opportunity given to Namibia to host this meeting.
