Consular services refers to the assistance provided to Namibian citizens who are living or traveling overseas. Such assistance includes among others, the provision and replacement of Namibian National travel documents, advice and support in the case of arrests, detention, accident, serious illness or death.
Similarly, assistance is also extended to foreign nationals who find themselves in similar circumstances, while in Namibia.
The Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation does not issue visas for foreign countries, but only facilitate by issuing a Note Verbale when Officers are travelling abroad, on Official duties.
Therefore, Visa requirements for Namibians travelling abroad differs from country to country. It is advised that applicants contact the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation prior to their travelling abroad.
The following is required prior to facilitation of a Note Verbale:
The Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation is responsible for issuing visas for members of diplomatic and consular corps and their families; and Staff of International and Regional Organizations.
